Project Brief:
Select a product with a form and aesthetic that appeals to you. using photography, Affinity Designer & Publisher explore the combination of photos & graphics in three differing layouts.
The Process:
The Parisa Pearl Necklace, House of Aria
- A popular statement necklace, Parisa is made up of pearls, rhinestones and antique gold to create a stunning rhinestone necklace.
- Size W4cm / L46cm plus adjustable chain to fit all.
- Material: Zinc Alloy / Rhinestone / Pearl.

The Process:
Exploration
As soon as I decided on the necklace I jumped straight in. Looking on Pinterest (link to my mood board here !) for ideas and inspiration as to how I could set up shots at home. As the sun began to set I was able to take advantage of the natural light and not need extra lighting surrounding the necklace, however at other times of the day I set up ring lights. I was also able to take pictures while it was dark and use spotlights to create an emphasised lighting on the necklace or on specific features I wanted to enhance.
The Photos
After several different set-ups I was left with a wide range of photos to work my way through. Only minor editing was allowed (brightness, saturation, etc.) so I focused on what photos would fit the A3 dimensions, or what I could add to the photos to be compliant with the dimensions.
The Results
Once I decided on my best photos I started to play around with Affinity Publisher and see where I could add in product details and the like. It was important to not make the pages too busy as the main focus was the necklace, the words should both compliment and enhance the page.
